SANDRA ELIZABETH NIXON
AUGUST 7, 1948 – JULY 17, 2024

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our loving Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Auntie Sandra Elizabeth Nixon on July 17, 2024.

Left to cherish her memories are her daughters Arlee (Rob) Snitowski, Lesley Nixon and Roxanne Hudson, her sister Cheryl Gurney, Brother Sean McKimmie, and special Niece Heather Sobie, her Grandchildren Elisha, Paige, Tommy, Kevin, Ashley, Jessica, and special Great Grandson Jayden. She had many great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Sandra was predeceased by her parents, James Robert McKimmie, and Mary Pithy McKissock, her sister Karen Harrison, Her Son Shane who was very special to Mom, and her Special Nephew Dale Gurney.

Sandra was born in Glasgow Scotland on August 7, 1948. Being born into a Military family, she spent her early childhood years traveling. After her family settled in Winnipeg, Mom grew up in St James. This is where Mom decided she would raise her own family.

Mom worked in a variety of industries throughout her life, which included Office Manager, Bartending, and waitressing. Finally, after 10+ years of being a transporter at Deer Lodge Center Mom finally retired at 63 years old.

Mom had a great sense of humor and would always have a smile on her face. She enjoyed her Country Music but most of all she loved her family. She loved spending time with her grandkids. Mom had a special bond with Jayden one of her Great grandsons who lived with her from a young age until his early teenage years. They had a special bond that she will hold near and dear to her heart.

“Mom, I miss your strength, your presence, and your love. Even though you are no longer with us, your memory remains etched in our hearts. I’ll always cherish the time we had together, and know that I will love you forever and ever”
Love You Mom!

A very special Thank you to all of the staff at Charleswood Personal Care Home for the amazing care you provided to Mom over the last two years and making her final days as comfortable as possible.

Cremation has already taken place. As per Sandra’s wishes, there will not be a funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, feel free to donate to the Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of your choice.
