November 29, 1946 - December 1, 2015

Sharon Ruth Maiers (nee Halldorson) November 29, 1946 – December 1, 2015   With great sadness the family of Sharon announces her passing on Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at the age of 69 years. Sharon will be lovingly remembered by her husband Gerry of 50 years; her daughters, Trish and Debbie (Bill); and grandchildren, Ruby, Delilah and Wyatt, all of whom she loved dearly. Also left to mourn are her two brothers, Greg and Cam and their families. She was predeceased by her parents, Erma and Percy Halldorson; and her grandmother Littie Cameron. For the most part, Sharon was a stay at home mother. She was a dedicated mother and homemaker and ensured she was always there for her family. Born in Grandview, Manitoba, Sharon spent her early years in Roblin, Manitoba before moving to Grand Centre, Alberta at an early age. After marrying Gerry, as a military family, they resided in several locations throughout Canada, with four years in West Germany, before settling in Winnipeg in 1996. Sharon endured and strongly fought a life threatening illness. First at home, then Riverview Health Centre and lastly at the Deer Lodge Centre. A private gathering of family and friends to celebrate Sharon’s life will be held. The family extends a sincere thank you to all the personnel at Palliative Care and Riverview Health Centre 3E and the staff of the Deer Lodge Chronic Care Centre 5W for their dedication, and the meticulous care they provided Sharon throughout her long struggle. A special thank you to her Home Care Nurses who attended to her medical needs during her long illness at home.
