Stanis?aw Soltys

December 12, 1936 – July 20, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stanis?aw Soltys, a loving husband, Tata, Brother, Dziadzio and Wujek at the age of 86, surrounded by his loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer on July 20, 2023

Stanis?aw was born on December 12, 1936, in Tuczempy Poland. He served in the Polish Military. Stanis?aw married Helena in Jaros?aw on July 12th, 1967. He then immigrated to Winnipeg with her where they began their new journey in what would be a long and happy life together of 55 yrs. Stanis?aw was employed as a millwright at Atlas Graham for over 20 years beginning in 1968.

A true handyman at heart, Stanis?aw had a special talent for fixing and tinkering with electrical equipment. Friends and family often sought his expertise when faced with technical challenges, and he approached each problem with patience and determination. His willingness to help and the way he lit up when solving a complex issue will forever be remembered.

As an avid sports fan, Stanis?aw was often found cheering passionately for his favorite teams. Whether it was The Winnipeg Jets, Winnipeg Blue Bombers or Poland playing a soccer match, he had an unwavering loyalty to his chosen teams, and watching the games brought him immense joy and camaraderie with fellow sports enthusiasts.

Stanis?aw also enjoyed fishing, going to the beach, blueberry picking, and volunteered his time and talents at the Big Whiteshell SPK Scout Camp. If Stanis?aw wasn’t growing his own garden or watching his birds on the porch, he could be found helping his wife in the kitchen when they were making perogies or other Polish dishes. He often spent time with his grandchildren Austin and Stefanie showing them his workshop or teaching them how to make homemade noodles.

Stanis?aw was a dedicated family member and friend, always willing to lend a listening ear and offer support to those in need. He left a lasting impact on the lives he touched. May we honor his memory by cherishing the beauty of nature, embracing the thrill of sports, and finding solace in the simple pleasures of life, just as he did.

Stanis?aw is reunited in Heaven with his wife Helena. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Walter and Krystyna (Vrad) Vodrazka, his grandchildren Austin and Stefanie, his sister Jozefa Rarog (in Poland), brother-in-law John (Irena) Rarog & sister-in-law Zofia Rarog. He will also be lovingly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews, both in Canada, U.S.A, Poland & France.

He was predeceased by his parents W?adis?aw and Maria Soltys, sister Weronika Kotyla (Stanis?aw), brother Josef (Maria) Soltys, brother-in-law Adam Rarog, Sister-in-law Zofia (Stefan) Porczek and his wife Helena Soltys.

Special thanks to his son Walter for all his dedication and time caring for Tata. A big thank you to all the family and friends who brought special Polish dishes and soups to dad these last few months. Thanks to Dr. J. Graham, Dr. A. Matteliano, Dr. A. Borys, and Dr. J. Kreml for their care of dad over the years. The family would also like to thank Cancer Care at HSC, The Home Care and Palliative Care Programs with extra special thanks to nurses Amanda and Angela as well as HCA Biker Brian.
