STEFAN “STEVE” PODAIMA
It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Steve Podaima on Friday, October 13, 2017, at 93 years of age. Left to mourn Steve’s passing are Polly, his loving wife of 67 years of marriage; children Myles (Coline), Dale (Nancy), Lyla (Dave) and Liana (Jim); as well as grandchildren Josh, Jenny, Tara, Carley, Lindsay, Christie and Dwayne; great grandchildren Sofia, Dax, Hudson, Aurora, and Silas (with two more on the way); and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his infant son Billy. Steve was born on the family homestead in Broad Valley, Manitoba, back in 1924, the youngest son of John and Maria. He had five brothers and two sisters. From an early age, he enjoyed and excelled at both baseball and music. His musical talent was recognized by his induction in to the Manitoba Music Hall of Fame, alongside his brother Louie. Steve always worked extremely hard to take care of his family through farming and concurrently being a paid musician, working at CPR and providing therapeutic massage. He continued to actively participate in his love of music, baseball and five pin bowling well in to his eighties. A celebration of Steve’s life will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2017 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Clifton Community Centre, 1315 Strathcona Street, Winnipeg. The family wishes to offer special thanks and gratitude to the staff and associates of Oakview Place Extendicare for the compassion, care and comfort they provided to Steve in his twilight years. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Steve’s name to the charity of your choice. Expressions of sympathy may be made at Wojcik’s Funeral Chapels & Crematoriums, Winnipeg, 2157 Portage Avenue, 204.897.4665 www.wojciksfuneralchapel.com
