STEPHEN ALBERT ARMITAGE
24 Apr 1958 – 12 Dec 2022

It is with deepest sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the untimely death of Stephen “Steve” Albert Armitage on 12 Dec 2022 in Winnipeg Manitoba at the age of 64 years.

A celebration of life/ Veteran’s service will be held, Thursday, 6 Jan 2023, 1300 – 1600, at ANAVETS #283, 3584 Portage Ave, Winnipeg MB.

Stephen was born 24 April 1958, in Barrie Ont. He graduated from high school with honours in 1985 after taking a few years off. Stephen enrolled in the Canadian armed forces in 1976- 2001 as a Lineman, he was posted and deployed multiple times during his 25year career. Upon retiring from DND he worked at Shaw construction for 10 years, and ROHL for 15 years, when he finally retired in April 2022. Stephen loved to travel and explore the world, he enjoyed camping with his kids and grand kids, he was an avid golfer who loved life, he had a sense of humour that could put a smile on every face. “Steve”, “Armitage”, “Army”, “HIM”, “Amy” are some of the names he was known by. Steve an adult name because he grew out of Stephen, Armitage because in military they use last names, Army an abbreviated last name also because of the military, HIM his alter ego, super hero if you will, as explained to me that came out when morale wasn’t high or the job seemed impossible just to make everyone laugh, also military, Amy because he had the name Army on the back of his jerseys and us kids had to make fun. However you remember Steve, know that he loved his family and friends.
