I had the fortunate opportunity to meet Syd when I was posted back to Winnipeg in 2003. For 8 years I was treated to great conversation and wonderful stories of his life. Syd's passing will be felt by many. RIP Syd, you'll be missed.

Spent many hours with Syd, at the officers mess before his promotion to H/LCol, truly representing 402 Squadron with dignity, and passion for the military. Great friend, will miss you Sydney thank you for all your contributions and support in my career.

Syd was an amazing man with a big heart, a person who would do anything to help anyone. For years I have missed his stories and would love to hear them all again. Rest in peace Syd you will be in many hearts and minds forever.

I met Syd when I joined 402 Squadron, he was always very happy to share stories of his long and distinguished service with the Squadron, both in war and peace. It was always a good day when he visited us at the hangar bringing his sense of humour and sometimes donuts. He touched the lives of many airmen and women and he will be remembered fondly by people all across Canada and beyond our borders. Rest in peace old friend.

I met Syd the day that I was sworn into the military. He took me aside to let me know that he would be there for anything I needed or if I needed someone to talk to. You will be missed be many
