We are sending our loving condolences to the Friesen, Gorlick and Dowhanik families. Sylvia personified strength and dignity. We will remember fondly her visits to Calgary, sitting at the dining room table, debating the topic of the day and displaying her infectious need to learn. It makes us smile. Her legacy to us is to never give up. Her wealth of courage is an inspiration. Sylvia, rest in peace and know how much you are loved.

Sylvia always put a big smile on my face after coming back from maternity w/my first born...Even when already retired, she still continued to work and kept herself busy...I'll never forget the day she had sent a Christmas present for my daughter Elyse which we will treasure forever. I thought to myself, 'what a very generous lady'..Coming to your house even that just one time to hang out and play croquet for the first time w/my husband and yours, we truly enjoyed it...I miss you Sylvia..thanks for the short but very memorable memories you had shared w/us...thank you..

My cousin Sylvia will always be remembered as a woman of tenacity, vibrance and vigour. Having overcome severe personal health issues it seemed at times that she was invincible. She always thrived on family events and was never afraid of getting the 'inside scoop' of a situation and offering her unbiased opinion. I so appreciated her connection with both my mom and dad and know that she has been well received by her cousin Lawrence in 'Shell Valley of the beyond.'Rest in Peace Cousin Syl and may angels carry you always!
