SYLVIA KATHLEEN TAIT (nee ARMSTRONG) (DRABOT) April 19, 1933 – May 7, 2012 It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our dear mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend on Monday, May 7, 2012, at Riverview Health Centre. Mom will be deeply missed by her daughter Sherri; son Michael and wife Linda (Jennifer, Brook, Jon, Madison, Dawn, Albany); son Brett (Jana, Danielle); and great-grandsons Zachary, and Ryland, and Ashton. Sylvia will be sadly missed by her sister, Jackie Olafson, and her husband Keith. Her memory will be cherished by many nieces and nephews who loved and knew her as Auntie Syl. She was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Lottie Armstrong; twin sister, Sonya McVicar, and her husband Bill. Sylvia was a real people person and was known for her winning smile, sunny disposition, and warm and generous heart. She loved working with the public and held various positions throughout her lifetime, including manager of the Bargain World discount store in our neighbourhood. Her final employment was as a customer service representative for Budget Rent A Car, from where she retired at the age of 67. Mom was a talented seamstress, won numerous awards for ten-pin bowling, and was renowned for her excellent cooking. She loved our annual vacations at Grand Beach, was always up for a card game, and her television was usually tuned to a sports channel. On Thursday, May 17, 2012, Sylvia’s Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik’s Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue. Special thanks to Brett for his caring and devotion to Mom after she was diagnosed with Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease in 2006. Sincere thanks to her long time care provider, Dr. A. Singer. We also want to acknowledge the staff at Riverview Health Centre on CD2, for the care and kindness they provided to our Mother over the last three years, especially to nurses Kathy and Mona, for the selfless and soulful connection they cultivated with our Mother. Flowers are gratefully declined and if you so wish, donations may be made to the Riverview Health Centre Foundation, One Morley Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3L 2P4 The most beautiful people we have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of the depths. These persons have an appreciation, sensitivity, and an understanding of life that fills them with compassion, gentleness, and a deep loving concern. Beautiful people do not just happen.
