Terence (Terry) Alan Farrimond
January 17, 1961 to August 12, 2023
Peacefully, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer; it is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Terry on August 12, 2023 at his home with family by his side. Terry leaves behind his son Mathew (Rayanne) and daughter Ryleigh (Laine), his sisters Wendy (Norm) and Barbara (Terry), special friend Margaret, along with numerous nephews, nieces and grand nephews and nieces, friends, and colleagues. As well as his furry friends, Black, Pig, Willow, and Ben, for which he always had treats waiting for their visits.
Terry was predeceased by his parents Sarah, Nathaniel and Bob and his biological father Barnard and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Terry was born in Bury, Lancashire, England and immigrated to Canada in the 70’s. Terry’s passion has always been his football (soccer for us Canadian’s). Terry had the opportunity to play for minor league for the Whitecaps and represented Manitoba in the 1981 Canada Games. Unfortunately, an injury did not allow him to follow his dream. But this did not stop him from following his beloved England in the World Cup or Manchester United. Terry also was able to see his beloved England Women’s football team win the FIFA quarterfinals. We can hear him cheer Go England Go! We are sure that he is cheering them in the finals from above with Black N Tans and Snakebites. Terry was an avid Boston Bruin and Denver Bronco’s fan. Terry’s calls to anyone on team play and game results will be missed. Along with the get together with the Boys on NFL Sundays at the Big A. Terry enjoyed this time immensely.
Terry had worked for several organizations over the years Winpak, Lowry’s and his current employment with Standard Aero.
Above all, Terry valued family. Over the last number of months, his lifeline was his cellphone (to his dismay). He would always be phoning someone but especially his children or sisters, to see how everyone is doing. Terry was especially proud of hearing of the new addition to the family in the new year.
The family would like to share their sincere gratitude to Jeff Brown for being there for anything that Terry required as well as the numerous doctors and nurses at CancerCare Manitoba and Palliative Care for their care during Terry’s journey over the years.
Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Terry’s wishes there is no formal service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter 12-2727 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg MB R3J 0R2 or www.petrescueshelter.com or CancerCare Manitoba Foundation 1160-675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg MB R3E 0V9
