THERESE ESTELLE WAITE
April 26, 1927 – May 22, 2025

It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Terry at the age of 98. She died peacefully the morning of May 22nd at Tuxedo Villa Extendicare in Winnipeg, Mb.

Terry was predeceased by George, her husband of 60 years. Terry leaves behind her six children, Christina (Dave), Kathleen, Sandra (Rob), Sonora (Richard), Elizabeth (Paul), and George (Christine). Grandchildren, Danni, Jenny, Samantha, Alanna, Christian, Michael, Andrew, and Robert. Great Grandchildren Sienna and William.

Terry was born to Alice and Joseph Saulnier in Johnstown Nova Scotia and at an early age moved to Chicoutimi Quebec. In her twenties Terry joined the Royal Canadian Air Force as an Airwomen. Terry and George met while performing in an Airforce production called This Hours Follies, they both sang and danced together. Terry loved sports. She played golf and tennis and watched everything from, hockey, to baseball, golf and curling. Her favorite of course, The Winnipeg Jets. Terry was an accomplished bridge player and had many infamous bridge parties over many decades. After living an extraordinary Airforce life with great friends, Terry and George eventually retired to Abbotsford, B.C. where they enjoyed a more leisurely pace. Terry and George moved back to Winnipeg in 2008 when George was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

Mom was an exceptionally loving person as shown through her compassion for dad during his decline. Mom rarely took a day to herself when dad was living at Golden West Lodge where she visited almost everyday. Mom had numerous friends and exuded charisma like no one else. Mom lived life to the fullest and had her faith to help her through the good times and the bad times. Our mom made a huge impression on everyone she met and was a very likeable kind person. Near the end mom suffered from peripheral arterial disease which caused her great pain in her feet and legs. Not once did we hear her complain and she always put a smile on when someone came to visit her.

Mom will be greatly missed but we know her pain is over, and she’s reunited with the love of her life.

Family would like to thank all the caregivers and extend a special thanks to Sharon and Carolyn for their love and support.
