THOMAS ALFRED TARDI
1929 – 2024

Peacefully, and with family by his side, our father, grandfather, and great-grandfather Tom Tardi passed away on February 17th 2024 at the age of 94. He is reunited with Alice, his wife of 56 years who passed in 2007. Tom will be dearly missed by his four children – Lorraine (Gary), Tom (Judi), Elaine (Tom), and Ken (Sue) as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. His loss will also be deeply felt by his wife Lorraine, and her children – Rose (Ken), Mark (Cris), and Ken (Pat).

Tom spent his early years on the family farm before moving to Winnipeg where he lived the rest of his life. At the age of 16 he met a young girl, Alice Van Ryssel, who would become his wife 5 years later and together they raised 4 kids, primarily in Transcona. In the late 1940’s Tom began what would be an almost 40-year career driving a fuel truck to supply gas stations, first with North Star Oil and then with Shell Canada when they acquired North Star in 1960. In his free time, he loved golfing with us, playing the guitar and singing with friends. Every Sunday, you could find him at his church playing hymns. After he retired and moved to St. Vital, he’d play for his fellow residents in the club at his apartment complex, which is where he met Lorraine after the passing of our mom. They hit it off and in 2010 they were married and were inseparable for the last 14 years.

A service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 5th at Christ the King church, 847 St. Mary’s Road, in Winnipeg. A light lunch will be served afterwards.
