THOMAS KEOUGH

THOMAS JOHN KEOUGH 1925 – 2013 On Monday, June 10, 2013, Tom left us to be reunited with his beloved Teresa. He said good-bye to his three children, Tom (Marg), Cathy (Terry Bilyk) and Mary (Al Cairns) and to his grandchildren Robert, Kris, Michael, Matthew, Andrew, Kate, Elizabeth, Linsey and McKenzie. He also dearly loved his great-grandchildren, Emily, Finn, Alexa, Nolan, Ella, Leah, Mason, Paige and one pending. Tom grew up in St. James and after graduating from St. Paul’s High School he served overseas for four years in England and Europe. Returning home, he started a successful and lengthy career at Eaton’s. In 1970, he joined the House of Teak as a partner, but left in 1980 to fulfill a lifetime dream of opening a specialty women’s shoe store on Pembina Highway. When Teresa was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, Tom retired, and these became some of his finest years as he cared for her with devotion and love. He was very active with the Alzheimer’s Society as a lecturer and volunteer and also with the St. Boniface Hospital Auxiliary Board and St. Ann’s Parish. Tom was witty, gregarious and he loved to flirt and tease. He loved people and people loved him. Be in peace Dad. A private Memorial Service will take place on Tuesday, June 18, 2013. We would like to thank the remarkable staff at Deer Lodge Centre. Donations in Tom’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, 10 120 Donald Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.
