Vera Lucille Borus

Born Feb 22nd, 1927, Passed Away May 1st, 2023

Vera Lucille Borus (nee Anderson) was born on February 22nd, 1927, at Neidpath, Sask, daughter of Carl Gustav and Florence Mae Anderson.

Mom passed away peacefully on May 1st, 2023, with her family by her side.

Mom is survived by her five children; Robert Borus (Ilona), Ron Borus (Tammy), Debbie Capon (Rod) Larry Borus (Gerry) and Linda Chicoyne; six grandchildren; Blaine Borus, Ainsley Smith, Deidra Borus, Devon Borus, Carrie Capon, and Kerrin Wetstein.

She was predeceased by her parents, and siblings Ernest Anderson, Leona Devos, Norma Fullerton, and Sheila Brown.

Mom spent her early childhood on the family farm in Neidpath, Saskatchewan and later moved with them to Neelin, Manitoba where her family continued to farm. As a young adult, Mom moved to Winnipeg with her sister Norma and they both pursued careers in hairdressing.

She later married and had five children, Robert, Ron and Debbie (twins), and Larry and Linda (also twins). Mom moved as a single parent to Baldur, Manitoba in 1959, where she raised her five children. Mom was fiercely proud and independent; and took pride in raising her children on her own. She was unwavering in her commitment, support and love she showed us, and sacrificed a lot personally to ensure we were always looked after.

Once the children were grown and on their own, Mom moved back to Winnipeg and spent the remainder of her working life at the St Boniface Hospital in housekeeping. Mom retired at 65 and took advantage of that time to travel to different locales in Canada and the USA, realizing her lifelong dream of going to Hawaii.

In the later years of her life, she resided in Donwood Manor, where she enjoyed many friendships, social activities, while spending holidays and vacations with her family and friends.

Special thanks to the amazing doctors, nurses, and staff at Donwood Manor Personal Care Home for their compassionate, personal care they gave to our mother in this difficult time. We love you Mom and will miss you very much.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday May 13, 2023, 12:00 noon at the Baldur Cemetery with Irene Onuch officiating. Following the interment, a reception will be held in the Baldur Memorial Hall. Everyone is welcome.
