Sept 6, 2018 will always hold a space in my heart and my memories as the day we lost Violet after a 6 year fight with stage 4 breast cancer and end stage COPD. Violet was a strong caring and loving mother for Penny, Dwayne and Kelly, leaving 4 grandchildren who loved her dearly, Amber, Mandy, Kristen and Jennifer. Violet passed peacefully in the presence of her family. I spent many days with Violet in the 31 years that she was part of my life and will miss her boisterous laugh as we bantered back and forth trying to get a rise out of each other. We had many a conversation about life and enjoyed the each others company over many coffees and holiday dinners. Violet was an amazing women who never gave up a battle and loved to laugh. Poking the bear is a term that comes to mind when I think of Vi as we both did that to one another and always knew when the other had had enough and then relaxed the conversation to the daily grind of life. Violet spent a great amount of time serving the public at the Rockwood ANAF in Winnipeg where she worked for longer than I can remember. Upon her retirement she spent many a good evening there playing darts and socializing with friends until she became home bound. I remember taking her for lunch often and the fun that occurred travelling around with her as she would try to pump the brakes in the passenger seat as I drove, good times with loving memories. We will all miss Violet as she passed to the life beyond our physical bodies and she will always know that we loved her dearly. As she now rests after this long battle our hearts are a bit empty but our memories will warm our hearts every time we think her. Rest in Peace Dear Violet, you will be missed. Peace be with you all.
