December 10, 2015
VIVIAN MAYBRODA – SILVERMAN With deepest sorrow we announce the passing of Vivian Maybroda-Silverman on Thursday, December 10, 2015, at the age of 58 years. Remaining to forever cherish Vivian’s memory are her loving husband of 24 years, Burle; her father Joseph; sister MaryAnne (Larry); brothers-in-law, Richard (Jo) and Neil (Shirley); nieces, Sheree and Amanda; nephews, Jeff and Josh; as well as grandnephew Hunter. She was predeceased by her mother, Minnie; and her in-laws, Maussie and Harry. In January 2013, Vivian was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. After major surgery and chemotherapy, we thought she beat it but it was not to be. It returned again and again, until she couldn’t fight it any longer. She faced the end with courage and grace. Vivian was born, raised and educated in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She spent her entire life here except for two years in Alberta. Vivian had to return home in 1982 when she was diagnosed with and required surgery for Crohn’s Disease. The Crohn’s never slowed her down. She enjoyed life. Vivian had a successful career with the Federal Government, spending 31 years with Revenue Canada where she met Burle. She retired in August 2012, four months after Burle, and they were both looking forward to many more happy years together. Vivian loved gardening and especially her roses. She also enjoyed reading and going for walks with Tiber (our dog). Vivian loved to cook and we enjoyed those meals with good wine. She had a marvelous palate. Her favourite hobby though, was shopping. Vivian loved getting new things and she was the best dressed woman at Revenue Canada. She was a beautiful person, inside and out. Vivian will be missed by all who were privileged to know her. In compliance with Vivian’s wishes, no formal Funeral Service will be held. Please raise a glass of your favourite wine to her memory. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at CancerCare Manitoba and Palliative Care Manitoba. Special thanks to the Gynae-Oncology team. Thanks also to our wonderful friends and family who helped so much throughout this ordeal.
