WALTER ROMANIUK

April 3, 1930 – July 17, 2022

It is with deep sadness and sympathy that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother and uncle, Wally Romaniuk (Walter). Always engaging with a smile and a twinkle in his eyes, we will forever remember Wally for the beautiful man that touched the hearts of many, engaged until his last moments. You couldn’t help smiling when his eyes met your’s.

Growing up in the Sandy Lake/Mountain Road Ukrainian settlement area, Wally was one of twelve children of Peter and Pauline (née Adamyk) Romaniuk: John (Katherine), William (Caroline), Frank, Mary. (Bill), Andrew, Christina, Adam, Victor, Annie, Maurice (Delores), and Edward (Mary). The family moved to the city of Winnipeg in 1943. Wally worked for 29 years at the Canadian Federal Government Public Services, where he was well respected and highly regarded.

Wally is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Jennie (née Slobodzian), their daughter, Valerie Klusiewich (Ed), four grandchildren, Karen and son Reid, Susan and son Devin, Richard, and Darren (Susan and their children, Harley, Sean (Mel), Sarah (Chris, their son Theo), and many nieces and nephews.

Devoted to his beloved wife, Jennie, he lived a full happy life with her. They enjoyed ballroom dancing, gardening, growing the most magical fruits and vegetable along with traveling and socializing with family and friends. Wally was a true Manitoban, living his adult life in the City of Winnipeg, an avid sports fan, loyal to the Jets’ and Blue Bombers. Always quick witted and sharp thinking, but most of all loving and caring to all who he knew. Wally – A true gentleman and a good man, is how ‘you’ will be remembered by all!

Wally Romaniuk passed from this life on July 17, 2022, “What’s one to do” he would say. We all thank him for being part of our lives and teaching us how to be better people. You will always be missed!
