WILDA BERNICE PALANJULY 13, 1931 – JULY 9, 2016
Peacefully with her family by her side Wilda Bernice Palan passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Red River Valley Lodge in Morris, Manitoba where she had resided since February 1, 2012. Wilda was a long-time resident of Winnipeg, formerly of Clandeboye. Left to cherish Wilda’s memory are her cousins Elaine (Don) McDonald and Arlene (Richard) Graham, as well as many other cousins and friends. Wilda was predeceased by her loving parents Lawrence and Ella Palan, brothers Ernest Lyall Palan and Ivan Campbell Palan in infancy. After graduating from Clandeboye High School, Wilda moved to the City of Winnipeg where she began employment with Monarch Life and later worked for the Province of Manitoba until retirement. Wilda had many interests which included participating in the Craft Circle Club of which she was secretary, reading books, attending Winnipeg Symphony concerts, and volunteering at the Manitoba Crafts Guild. She was a member of the St. James United Church. Wilda travelled extensively, including cruises to the Caribbean and Alaska, holidays in Florida, California, eastern Canada where she toured the Cabot Trail and visited the French Island of Miquelon. She had a wonderful trip with her mother to Minneapolis, and made several trips to Vancouver and Victoria to visit family. Wilda’s Service of Remembrance will be held on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik’s Funeral Chapel, 2157 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba with Rev. Don McIntyre presiding. A private Interment will take place at a later date in Clandeboye. The family thanks the very special staff at Red River Valley Lodge, Dr. Loewen and Dr. Fraser.
