WILLIAM (BILL) SHUPENIA

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father and grandpa at Seven Oaks Hospital with his family by his side, in the early hours on Sunday, November 8, 2015, at the age of 82 years.
Remaining to forever cherish Bill?s memory are his wife, Winona of 57 years; daughters, Marlene (Dennis) Boblinski, Donna (Steve) Klym, Louise (Lorne) Lavallee and Wendy (Craig) Swanston; three precious grandchildren, Jared and Jodi Lavallee and Jennifer Swanston; brothers, Dan (Joyce), Mike (Rosalie) and Edward; as well as sister Rose; sister-in-law Olga; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Steve and Anne; brothers, Alec and George; along with in-laws, Tom and Margaret Srutwa; and brothers-in-law Victor (Anne) and Tommy Srutwa.
On May 20, 1933, Bill was born in Zbruch District, Manitoba, where he lived and farmed his entire life. Bill met the love of his life Winona in 1956 at the local Crabby Steve?s Dance Hall near Komarno, MB. They married on June 21, 1958. Bill took pride in farming, loved being his own boss, enjoyed going to auction sales and loved family gatherings.
In his early years, Bill served as trustee for Zbruch School District, drove a school van for Evergreen School Division, served as Municipal Councillor and Deputy Reeve in the R.M. of Armstrong and was a member and President of Komarno Community Hall.
Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 390 Marion Street in St. Boniface, Winnipeg, Manitoba, with Rev. Fr. Peter Chorney and Rev. Fr. Isidore Dziadyk, presiding. Interment will follow after lunch in the All Saints Cemetery, 4535 Main Street, West. St. Paul, MB.
Special thanks to the Doctors and Staff at Teulon, St. Boniface, Selkirk General, Health Sciences Centre and Seven Oaks Hospitals for their care and compassion over the last year.
