WLADYSLAW (WALTER) SNAGLEWSKI
December 19, 1944 – May 3, 2025

It is with deepest sadness that our friend and co-worker passed away on May 3, 2025 at the age of 80.

Wladyslaw (normally called Walter) was born in Großsachsenheim, Baden-Württemberg, Germany on December 19, 1944. He was a bachelor and never married.

Walter was predeceased by his parents, Wladyslaw Snaglewski and Anna (Plewinska) Snaglewski.

He is survived by brothers John (Ann) Snaglewski and Tony (Carol) Snaglewski and his nieces and nephews.

The service will be held at 0930 hrs, 14 May 2025 at the 17 Wing Military Chapel, located at 2235 Silver Ave, Winnipeg with internment in the military field at Brookside Cemetery, Winnipeg.

Walter lived with his parents in Montreal, QC from age 5 to age 19, when he left to join the military. With this move, he began a 37 year career as a Canadian Provost Corp Military Policeman. He served his country faithfully and loyally, being posted throughout Quebec, Ontario and Manitoba along with postings to Soest and Lahr, West Germany and as well as Beirut, Lebanon.

Walter was highly regarded as a professional within the Military Police Branch. His dedication and positive attitude were above reproach and were often spoken of with respect by his co-workers. Walter attained the rank of Warrant Officer with an indication from his supervisor that upon his next posting, a promotion to Master Warrant Officer was pending if he extended his career. He decided to retire from the military here in Winnipeg in 1989.

He was highly qualified and strategically employed within the Military Police in the following capacities: Military Investigator; Senior Police Administrator; Breathalizer Technician; VIP Code 1 Aircraft Security (providing in-flight security for Royalty and their representatives (Governor-General), Prime Minister of Canada and upper echelon of dignitaries from other countries); Explosive Vapour Detection Operations; Fire and Arson Investigator

Upon retirement from the Canadian Forces, Walter continued within the Security field by working as a Special Constable for the Manitoba provincial Security Services and the Winnipeg Corps of Commissionaires, at various security sites in supervisory capacities.

Throughout his multiple careers Walter was well respected for his strong work ethics, his friendly demeanour and dedication to his job and to Canada. He will be missed by all, and extremely hard to replace. Now he is out of pain and in a better place.

In lieu of flowers and in honour of Walter, donations to your local Heart and Stroke foundation are welcomed.
